PhD in anthropology and associate professor at the Department of Anthropology, University of Copenhagen.

Cecilie RubowThe aim of the project Social and metaphysical resilience in costal areas is to explore resemblances and differences in the local experience of current changes in climate in terms of storms, cyclones, flooding, beach erosion, sea warming and sea level rise. The main focus is on the interplay of different forms of knowledge, belief and scepticism among local people, experts and tourists. Analytically, the project will highlight the interplay of the practical coastal mangement and the varying theories of the regularities and irregularities of rain, groundwater and seawater. The project is primarily situated in Muri Lagoon, Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
